Description
Organizational factors have been shown to play a significant role in the successful implementation of video consultations. Successful implementation requires a planned and coordinated approach that involves staff training and coordination of responsible employees. The introduction of video consultations in general practice means that work methods and routines are adapted to a new practice using new technologies. It is therefore important to investigate how adaptations to new work methods and technologies are made and how they affect the working life of doctors and staff.
Research-based knowledge about the use of video consultations in general practice is important for both healthcare professionals and patients, and policymakers to ensure high quality in general practice regarding the future use of video consultations. The purpose of this project is therefore to identify and understand the possibilities and challenges of implementing video consultations to achieve sustained use of video consultations in general practice.
The study is divided into three levels:
- the individual user (micro-level),
- the organizational aspect (meso-level),
- the national and broader context for the implementation of video consultations (macro-level).
Empirically, the study is based on observations in general practice, interviews with doctors, staff, and patients; as well as, the collection and analysis of policy documents.
