    Abstract

Objective: In this presentation, we will focus on the opportunity of respite for young carers created by the environment, e.g. through organized leisure activities. Furthermore, the objective of this study is to analyze the association between the opportunity of respite in everyday life and young carers' well-being.
Material and methods: The analysis will be based on data from a large representative survey among Danish 13-19 year olds, conducted in October 2016. Data will be collected by electronic questionnaires completed during a school lesson. Serious parental illness will be measured by self-reporting of the adolescent, followed by a sequence of questions in relation to the severity and duration of the condition. Information about opportunity of respite and well-being will be self-reported.
